Parque del Lago
Location: Antiguo Aeropuerto internacional “Mariscal Sucre”, Quito, Ecuador
The construction of a large area, a new passage that recreates the memory of lacustrine relief of the place, and builds a regional scale spatial relationship between Lake Park and the system of volcanoes flanking the Interandina mountain range.
An articulated sequence of urban spaces
Lake Park is a system of inter-connected urban spaces, linked through a longitudinal axis, the continuous system of large public park on a metropolitan scale.
Memory of existing streams
The new system of green corridors facing Lake Park follow the traces of water, articulating a cross network of public pedestrian spaces and local level.
The airport runway is recycled as a support or limit. On this great platform, activities are defined into four program areas of the park.
The project holds a high benchmark for self-sustainability with water treatment and a clean energy park. The amount of energy generated by these systems will create a surplus of energy that can be resold by the surrounding neighborhoods.
